Growth charts for children with Down syndrome in the United States are available for download below. These charts can help healthcare providers monitor growth among children with Down syndrome and assess how well a child with Down syndrome is growing when compared to peers with Down syndrome.
The clinical charts are shown in metric units (kilograms and centimeters). Each chart is available for boys and girls. Each chart shows the 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles. The available charts include the following:
What is a percentile?Percentiles are the most commonly used indicator to assess the size and growth patterns of individual children in the United States. Percentiles rank the position of an individual by indicating what percent of the reference population the individual would equal or exceed. The reference population is the group of individuals whose growth patterns were used to develop the growth charts.
Are there considerations I should keep in mind when using these charts?Specialized growth charts, like these new growth charts for children with Down syndrome, provide useful growth references for children with Down syndrome, but may have some limitations. For example, for this study the researchers took growth measurements from a group of 637 individuals with Down syndrome recruited from medical and community locations, mostly from the Philadelphia area. These children might not be representative of all children with Down syndrome in the United States. For more information about the methods and development of the growth charts for children with Down syndrome, please see -1652.abstract.

Poor bowel control is more common than you think. About 1 in 20 people experience poor bowel control and it affects both men and women. It's more common as you get older, but young people can also have poor bowel control. In some cases, people with poor bowel control also have poor bladder control and may leak urine (urinary incontinence).
Children usually develop the ability to be toilet trained by about three years of age. Soiling is when the bowels are emptied in places other than the toilet. Even after a child is toilet trained, there may be occasional accidents with soiling (poo) in your child's underwear.

Affect refers to our overall feelings, which we experience throughout our days, weeks and months. Emotions arise as a result of specific events or situations. Moods, on the other hand, are the background feelings that accompany us without any particular reason or cause (Emotions and Moods, 2005).
The tricky thing about moods is that they are transitory, and can come and go without warning, cause, or reason. This is why, unlike emotions, which arise due to, or as a result of, specific events, moods represent our overall state, and determine how we interpret or approach external stimuli. Also, they can last much longer than emotions (Moods, 2015).
Without an ability to have a more accurate view of the environment, a biased and more subjective mental state is created and maintained. This is where the tracking benefits of mood charts can provide crucial information about when, where, and how often such moods are experienced and expressed.
One study showed that in the wake of trauma, the habit of ruminating on the negative event, a wish to suppress its undesirable thoughts, as well as the inability to associate with that past event, so as to fully process and move beyond it, is correlated with more symptoms of traumatic behavior and their severity (Desmet, Vastenburg, & Romero, 2016).
This means that individuals with ruminating thoughts, based on a skewed interpretation of negative events (influenced heavily by downcast emotions), lead to depression and an inability to reason clearly, causing a decline in executive operation (Philippot & Agrigoroaei, 2016).
The information collected in the journal can remain private for personal use and analysis, or it can be shared with a mental health care provider when appropriate and comfortable for the client (Wong, 2017).
The mind can be a tricky thing to manage. In some moments it cooperates, and in others, it runs loose. Being more understanding of these changing emotions, and approaching them with curiosity, can make a big difference in the coping habits we utilize to deal with such ranging highs and lows.

Before you learn how to play pieces, you have to know how to play individual notes on the violin. Therefore, if you are wondering what notes are on each string of a violin, which finger to use and where to place it to play that notes, and how to easily recognize it in the sheet music, then this article is just for you! Moreover, you can download PDF charts which will help you memorize it all.

A violinist has to memorize where to place their finger on the fingerboard. To help with this, beginner violin students put tape on their violin in the correct place to play the proper pitch and learn violin fingerings.
Charts are the best solution when you want to keep everything organized. During a tumbling E test, the eye doctor will ask the person being tested to use either hand (with their fingers extended) to show which direction the "fingers" of the E are pointing: right, left, up or down.
There have been several modifications of the Jaeger chart (or "Jaeger card") by different manufacturers since its invention in 1867. Modern Jaeger charts are not standardized, so the letter sizes on different Jaeger cards can vary slightly.
The font size on a modern Jaeger eye chart usually ranges from J10 (about 14-point type in Times New Roman font) to J1 (about 3-point type in Times New Roman). Some Jaeger charts have an additional paragraph labeled J1+ that may be even smaller than the J1 block of text.
Since eye charts only measure visual sharpness, they can help your eye doctor figure out whether you need prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. They can also help your local Department of Motor Vehicles determine who needs corrective lenses to drive and who shouldn't drive due to legal blindness.
But eye charts don't measure your peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision or ability to perceive contrast. They can't monitor things like eye pressure or the condition of your retinas.
